Review of Existing Plans and Priority Recommendation • Review the recommendations from the five (5) adopted open space plans in the City and County of Durham. The five plans are listed below: • Downtown Open Space Plan • Eastern Durham Open Space Plan • Little River Corridor Open Space Plan • New Hope Corridor Open Space Master Plan • Urban Open Space Plan • Review critical area protection plans, and watershed protection plans for policies and actions that relate to the Open Space Plan. Deliverables: • Identify policies and action items from all five open space plans that are relevant and can be implemented • Digital draft copies of plans, PowerPoint presentation to be presented to Durham City Council, Durham County Commissioners and Joint City-County Planning Committee and Durham Planning Commission • Graphics and maps outlining different types of open space and categorizing feasibility of different types of open space throughout the City of Durham/Durham County; Policy Recommendations • Review Durham Comprehensive Plan and Durham Unified Development Ordinance and provide specific recommendations for open space preservation through the development review process. • Comprehensive prioritization strategies for land acquisition by the CIty and County. Deliverables: • Draft open space policies that support the Comprehensive Plan Goals and Objectives • Draft policies and strategies for open space preservation in new development. • Develop a prioritization strategy for acquisition of private properties for open space conservation. Final Durham City-County Open Space Plan • Prepare draft of final report reviewed by City of Durham Planning & Development, Durham Parks & Recreation and Durham County Open Space. The plan should focus on developing county-wide open space plan that prioritizes open place protection and land acquisition priorities. The final draft should include: • Cover Page • Executive Summary • Engagement Summary • GIS Analysis • Policies • Open Space Implementation Plan and Recommendations for Funding Sources • Appendices with surveys, meeting minutes and other relevant materials...
