Appalachian State University is seeking qualifications from design firms to provide advanced planning services for campus dining in alignment with the University’s Campus Master Plan. Campus Dining has recently completed a Dining Master Plan, which includes the spaces listed below, with an estimated total cost of $25 million over a five-year period. Building on the work of the approved Dining Master Plan, the goal of this effort is to further develop a phased, strategic roadmap for modernizing dining facilities to meet current and future student demand, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the overall campus experience. The selected designer will establish a uniform identity across Campus Dining facilities and operations, helping develop creative solutions to balance needs across campus. The dining master plan proposes four phases of renovation to the existing facilities across campus. The scope of the renovations will include both retail and residential dining programs, which may include partnerships with local and national brands as well as owner-designed concepts. We intend to retain the selected designer to provide design services for all future phases of the dining master plan. The estimated completion date for all phases is in calendar year 2030. Phase 1 of the construction will focus on the following projects, estimated at $4.5 million: ● Design and construction of a new market located within a vacant space in a residence hall. ● Conversion of an existing commercial kitchen into a commissary kitchen to support campus-wide food service operations. The remaining phases will include: ● Updates to our Central Dining Hall retail concepts. ● Updates to Trivette Dining Hall residential and retail concepts. ● Student Union dining locations. ● Other disbursed dining locations.
