Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Greensboro’s Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Information Technology Department (IT) received an award from the Federal Transit Agency (FTA), Helping ObtainProsperity for Everyone (HOPE) Grant Program to develop a technical plan for improving publicmobility with digital accessibility solutions. The project aims to understand how lack of accessand adoption to broadband internet, and internet-abled devices, impacts public transportationriders. As shown in the Coverage Area Map (Attachment 1), the study area will focus on GTA’sbus system, and emphasize solutions in census tracts federally designated as areas of persistent poverty, where over 20 percent of the population is living at or below the federal poverty line. The city is seeking a contractor to develop a Transportation Technology Capacity Plan, with twoprimary goals:1.Designing a broadband internet service at bus stops and/or via the transit fleet,2.Developing a digital capacity plan and/or programs to improve public mobility in Greensboro.
