Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Greensboro is seeking a qualified consulting firm with Smart Cities and/or ITS system design and project management experience to create a Transportation Digital Inclusion Plan. The firm will need to apply comprehensive and holistic approaches to design an effective system of infrastructure, technology and programmatic solutions. The Transportation Digital Inclusion Plan will be a systems-level design plan that connects Smart City, ITS and Internet of Things (IoT) concepts to create digital inclusion options for public transit riders. The plan will study available infrastructure, technology, services and strategies to reduce the burdens of the digital divide on public mobility users. The contractor is required to study the logistics, cost, and pros/cons to provide free broadband internet along transit routes and on the transit fleet. Recognizing education and access to Internet-enabled devices are part of the divide, continuous and comprehensive community engagement is expected, and community needs should be reflected in the plan’s recommendations
