Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Greensboro Police Department is searching for providers to deliver the Bureau of Justice Assistance's Crisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT) curriculum on scheduled training dates to members of the Greensboro Police Department, beginning on or about January 1, 2024 and continuing through September 30, 2025. The training will be held at the Public Safety Training Facility on North Church Street, Greensboro NC. The City estimates that there will be approximately 16 training sessions performed, once a month, over the life of the contract. The training is funded by the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). This program furthers the DOJ's mission by providing support to law enforcement on how to effectively partner with mental health, substance use disorder, and community service agencies to promote public safety and ensure appropriate responses to individuals who have behavioral health conditions, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or physical disabilities. TheCrisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT) is a 40-hourtraining program designed to prepare police officers in their response to people experiencing crises related to behavioral health conditions (including mental health conditions and substance use disorders) and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Thistraining is based upon the Memphis Model of Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training and is designed to complement the development and delivery of crisis response programs planned by law enforcement agencies, behavioral health services providers, and disability service providers in the community. CRIT's overall philosophy is officer safety, public safety, and diversion from the criminal justice system when possible.
