Department of Pathology, Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) Laboratory - Laboratory specimens require routine and STAT testing that may not be available in-house. On these occasions when patients are transferred from Womack to another local medical facility, a courier service is required to transport specimens for testing to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center (CFVMC) in Fayetteville, NC and to Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. Additionally, a courier service is needed to transport specimens for testing from WAMC Transfusion Services (located within WAMC) to ARC reference laboratory (located in Charlotte, NC). A courier service is needed for delivery of blood and blood products between WAMC Transfusion Services and CFVMC, NC laboratories as requested through the National Blood Exchange.
Department of Pathology, Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center (BDC) - Defense Health Agency (DHA) has issued guidance to get the freshest blood possible into the Theater of Operations as soon as possible. To meet this requirement, the Fort Bragg BDC will be required to send their donor Transfusion Transmitted Disease (TTD) to the testing facility (which is Creative Testing Solutions) currently in Charlotte, NC. It is possible the testing facility location may change to a different location. They additionally must have whole blood collected transported back to the Fort Bragg BDC as soon as possible. There are times when Fort Bragg will host a blood drive as a mobile site. In the event there is a blood drive within Fort Bragg, a second courier will be scheduled.
