Specifications include, but are not limited to: Officers who patrol parking lots and exteriors of downtown and satellite locations will assist County employees and the public with escorts as requested, conduct tours of all areas looking for and responding to suspicious behavior and other tasks as assigned. A security officer is usually the first representative of the building that a visitor sees. The impression a security officer makes is the impression the County makes. A security officer’s words and actions speak for the County. Security Officers should do all the following: • Greet visitors with a smile • Show sincere desire to help • Answer visitor’s questions • Be attentive; listen to the visitor’s story without interrupting • Show patience and tact • Always remain alert • No congregating with other security staff or building occupants • No overlapping of duties during same schedule. • No unauthorized items, food or personal objects can be stored in or on security desks or in storage closets. Security desks must be kept clear of personal items. • When on duty, Security Officers will not engage in any activity not directly related to performance of security services. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to, using any office equipment or copy equipment without authorization, watching television, use of electronic devices (cell phones (except for security purposes or emergencies, iPods, computers for personal use, etc.), reading books/magazines/papers, drawing or other activities that would detract from security duties. • At no time or under any circumstances are officers permitted visitors when on duty, including off duty security personnel
