Security Post and General Duties ● The Contractor shall ensure that security guard(s) are stationed in the designated security area with direct visibility of the front entrance at all times. ● If a security desk is provided, the Contractor shall ensure that the guard uses the desk telephone solely for official business-related calls (including communication with the Contractor’s office or supervisor). Unauthorized calls shall be billed to the Contractor. The contractor is required to provide 1 cell phone designated to each location with the sole purpose of providing facility occupants a direct line of communication. ● The Contractor shall ensure that security guards are familiar with tenant locations and operations within the assigned facility. ● The Contractor shall ensure that only authorized individuals and guests approved by the City Department are permitted access to the facility. ● lf City staff deny entry to an individual or they must be removed from the premises due to inappropriate behavior, an ordinance or policy infraction, Officers shall ensure the individual is formally escorted off the property and prevented from re-entering. Officers will prioritize de-escalation. lf individuals refuse to vacate the property, Officers will contact law enforcement and ensure the individual(s)do not regain entry until law enforcement arrives. ● Effective communication is essential. Officers must maintain clear and concise communication with dispatch, supervisors, and other security personnel. This includes providing timely updates on incidents, observations, and status. ● Direct traffic in and out of parking or loading areas and enforce “No Parking” zones Armed Security Guard Services ● Protect property, assets, and facility occupants against personal harm, fire, theft, vandalism, damage and trespassers. ● Officers are responsible for opening and closing all facilities to the public, and securing all entrances, exits, and the perimeter. ● Monitoring all incoming and outgoing traffic including security checkpoint searches. ● Maintain and enforce the utilization of contractor and guest sign-in logs. ● Controlling elevators and freight deliveries. ● Monitoring security needs of the City of Asheville, facility occupants, and the public. ● Conducting perimeter patrols and building tours to verify that all access points are secure and functioning appropriately.
