A. Motors covered by this Specification shall conform to applicable requirements of NEMA, IEEE, ANSI, and NEC Standards and shall be third party listed where applicable for service specified. Motors shall be designed for conditions in which they will be required to perform; i.e., general purpose, splash proof, explosion proof, standard duty, high torque or other special type as required by equipment manufacturers. C. Select motors so they do not exceed nameplate rating nor operate into service factor to meet specified duty. D. All motors shall have totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) enclosures. E. Motors shall be furnished for starting in accordance with utility requirements and be compatible with starters specified hereinafter. 1. Starters for NEMA rated 460 V motors, 1/2 hp and above to be reduced voltage starting type.
