The Design scope of work will include, but is not limited to: 1. With a goal of carbon neutrality, and a focus on electrification, prepare mechanical, plumbing and electrical design plans based on Owner’s criteria to include: a. System Design: Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing design including systems, equipment and calculations, energy and performance modeling, systems review, coordination and integration to include all controls; b. Sustainability: Working within the funding and schedule constraints, and within the City’s sustainability and energy optimization goals, the Professional Services provider is required to work with the Duke Energy Design Assistance team (or equivalent) to provide creative solutions to address the HVAC challenges and apply for utility rebates. This may require developing and pricing 2-3 alternate designs with life cycle costs, energy usage, and carbon emissions. 2. Development and refinement of cost estimates and project schedules; 3. Construction administration and observation including conferences, weekly site observations and regularly scheduled progress meetings with the City; 4. Project closeout, establishment of warranties, and guarantees. Final start-up and certification of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. 5. Though not anticipated, should issues arise that will require Architectural or Structural evaluation and support, acting as Design Lead and contracting with qualified Architects or Structural Engineers for pertinent support and/or design services. Design team should have preexisting relationships with these types of Licensed Professionals. The scope of services to be provided by the Design/Build Contractor include: 1. Phase 1a: The D/B Contractor will work with the City to review scope of the project and provide an engineering assessment. The Design-Build contractor is required to work with the Duke Energy Design Assistance team (or equivalent) to provide energy efficient and electric-only scope options, a scope of work and cost estimate for the project. 2. Phase 1b: A fee for design services for the work identified from the project will be negotiated. The D/B Contractor will then proceed with design activities. 3. Phase 2: A fee for construction activities will be negotiated using the scope of work identified from the design contract documents and cost estimate. The D/B Contractor will then proceed with construction.
