The majority of this project will revolve around completing two detention wings (Blocks F & G) which will add 20 cells and some associated support spaces. There will also be some items to address in the existing wings to enhance the current state of security in the spaces. A large portion of the MEP infrastructure is in place and was established and designed as a part of the original project. In conjunction with this project, it has been determined that the existing on-site sewer system, pump station and force main are in need of some expansion and upgrades. This will need to be taken into account with the hiring of design consultants to make sure there will be a competent firm to engage with the Chatham County Utilities Department and Detention Center staff to address the current deficiencies and establish a design to correct those and address future needs. As a function of this growth, and in accordance with NC General Statutes, Chatham County is soliciting qualification statements from firms experienced in the DesignBuild construction project delivery method. Interested Firms will be required to include information describing how its firm is experienced and equipped to facilitate this request. Chatham County reserves the right to reject all submittals and will award in the best interest of Chatham County and the project.
