Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The lessee is responsible for all paperwork or paying all costs due to the ASCS Office or any other regulatory agency for the cultivation and marketing of crops. 2. The lessee must maintain the land free and clear of the storage of equipment and signage and the cleared land may only be utilized for farming purposes. Said land must be maintained in a satisfactory condition and the lessee shall disc and remove all farm products from the land at the end of the lease. The lessee must also keep all ditches cut and cleared of debris and any area around the track of land that is not being farmed must be mowed. 3. If specified, certain farmlands will be subject to the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Buffer Project as recorded in Book 2485, Page 864 of the Wayne County Registry. 4. The lessee shall indemnify and save harmless the County of Wayne from any claims arising out of its lease. 5. The lessee will not be permitted to sublease under their lease agreement with Wayne County. 6. This stipulation only applies to the airport location: The following crops are not permissible for planting: corn, sorghum, wheat, high crops, or any crops that may attract birds. 7. The lessee will not permit any hunting of any kind under their lease agreement with Wayne County. 8. The lessee should have the soil tested and lime applied if needed within the 3-year period of the lease. 9. No trees may be harvested off the leased property. 10. Crop rotation requirements for leased County property: The agriculture producer will need to follow Best Management Practices (BMP’s) regarding crop rotation. During the three (3) year lease, the producer shall not grow more than one (1) tobacco crop and one (1) sweet potato crop. It is recommended that the producer not grow the same grain crop two (2) years in a row. Crop rotation is essential for disease and insect management.
