ADVERTISEMENT FOR PREQUALIFICATION OF BIDDERS Project: Sturgeon City Civic & Environmental Education Center (Bid No: FY14-01) Owner: City of Jacksonville Location: 815 New Bridge Street, Jacksonville, N.C. 28540 SUBMITTAL OF BIDDER QUALIFICATIONS: A. The purpose of this Prequalification Procedure is to provide the Owner with a mechanism to evaluate and determine which Contractors are qualified to participate in the construction of the Project. Evaluation will be limited to the office of the Contractor that is to perform the Work. B. Six Prequalification Packages shall be submitted to the Owner for review. C. The Owner and Architect will evaluate bidder’s qualifications pursuant to NC Bid Laws, prepared in compliance with ‘Prequalification of Single Prime Contractors for the Sturgeon City Environmental Education Center’ issued by the City, and delivered as follows: 1. Due date: Friday, August 2, 2013 2. Time: 5:00PM, local time. 3. Location: Jacksonville City Hall 815 New Bridge Street Jacksonville, NC 28540 Attention: Deanna Young D. Submittals of Qualifications will thereafter be evaluated by the Owner and Architect. Prospective Bidders will be notified of the results by August 16, 2013. Bidder’s qualification information shall be considered privileged and confidential until otherwise required law. E. This Advertisement for Prequalification of Bidders for the Sturgeon City Environmental Education Center serves as the official advertisement for this formal project pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes. F. Contractors are required to comply with these Requirements for Prequalification. Only those Contractors who have complied with the Requirements for Prequalification and have been selected will be eligible to submit construction bids for this Project. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project includes the construction of a 12,790 square foot single story building that would be the home to a Civic and Environmental Education Center located at 4 Court Street, Jacksonville, NC. • Site development consisting of earthwork and grading, storm drains, utility services, concrete curbs and walks, plaza pavers, asphalt paving, landscaping and site furniture • Building construction consisting of General Construction, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Fire Sprinkler. • The building design is contemporary architecture. Manufacture finished insulated metal wall panels supported by structural metal stud framing is used extensively in the building envelope design. Exterior openings are aluminum curtain wall and storefront systems. The project is also detailed to weather well in high wind and wind driven rain conditions common to the coastal environment. • Project interior finishes include polished concrete floors, upward acting folding walls and sound absorbing wall surfaces. Owner and Architect anticipate the following schedule: 1. Plans and specification submitted to prequalified contractors on August 23, 2013. 2. Construction bids to be received on September 26, 2013. 3. Notice to Proceed by November 2013. 4. Construction duration of approximately 12 months.
