Summary of Specifications:
Notice is hereby given that the City of Jacksonville Community Development Division is seeking letters of interest from qualified developers interested in submitting a proposal for the purchase and redevelopment of the City owned land and adjacent parcels known as the “Onslow Inn Site.” The project site consists of three parcels totaling 19.93 acres, of which 9± acres, are buildable, with the balance available for open space and water-oriented features.
The City of Jacksonville, North Carolina, (population 75,000) serves as the County Seat, and is the business, retail, medical, banking, and cultural center for Onslow County. The City is home to the Marine Corps base, Camp Lejeune, and the Marine Corps Air Station at New River. Jacksonville is situated approximately 120 miles east of Raleigh, and 50 miles north of Wilmington, NC. The project site, situated on the shore of the New River, is positioned to serve as a true gateway to Jacksonville and is located within walking distance of Jacksonville’s central business district, retail businesses, and dining and drinking establishments.
The site is accessible via Highways 17 and 24 (Marine Boulevard). The City is in the process of acquiring property across the street for the development of a new Public Safety building and is considering the construction of a new lighted intersection providing controlled access to this site and directly into the adjacent downtown area. A pedestrian walkway is also planned to be constructed under the Buddy Phillips Bridge. This site also has access to water and sewer.
