Summary of Specifications:
Sealed Bids from qualified Bidders for the construction of the Fire Station #2 Construction Project will be received, by the City Clerk of the City of Jacksonville, at Meeting Room Conference Room A & B, City Hall, 815 New Bridge Street, Jacksonville, NC 28540, until 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on November 1, 2012, at which time they will be publicly opened and read. The Project consists of a new fire station. The fire station is approximately 10,219 s.f., housed with three vehicle bays. The site work consists of, but not limited to, sewer utility connection, grading, connection of other underground and above ground utilities, heavy and light duty asphalt parking areas, reinforced concrete fire truck aprons in and around the station. The fire station work includes, but is not limited to: cmu block, metal studs, gypsum board, concrete, structural steel framing, wood trusses, metal standing seam roofing, vinyl composition tile, hard tile, acoustical ceiling tile, mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, finish grading, and landscaping. The building consists of offices, a training room, kitchen, dayroom, sleep rooms, three vehicular bay storage, and accessory rooms for the servicing of the fire station, a storage mezzanine, training platform and vertical rappelling anchors are included for training purposes. The project is located at the corner of Gum Branch Road and Sandy Dr., Jacksonville, NC. City of Jacksonville, NC is the owner. Bids will be received on single prime contract basis. Bids shall be on a lump sum and/or unit price basis. Bidding Documents may be examined at the office of the Owner, Engineering Division of Public Services, City Hall, 815 New Bridge Street, Jacksonville, NC 28540. Copies may be obtained from the offices of the Owner, Engineering Division of Public Services, City Hall, 815 New Bridge Street, Jacksonville, NC 28540 for the non-refundable amount of $300.00 for each set. Payment for documents must be received by the Engineering Division and shall be made payable to the City of Jacksonville. Partial sets of Bidding Documents will not be available. Neither the Owner nor the Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including any addenda, obtained from other sources. Checks for documents shall be made payable to the City of Jacksonville. Persons requesting shipment of documents shall bear the additional, non-refundable cost of shipment. Bid and Contract securities shall be provided in accordance with Articles 10 and 23 of the Instructions to Bidders. The City of Jacksonville will conduct a Pre-Bid meeting at City Hall, Conference Room A & B, on October 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. immediately followed by a site visit. Bidders shall provide proof of qualifications to perform the Work as described in Article 5 of the Instructions to Bidders. The Jacksonville City Council reserves the right to waive any informalities, to reject any or all Bids, and to accept that Bid or Bids which appear to be in the Owner’s best interest. Bidders must be properly licensed under Chapter 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes and under Municipal Code 11-9.
