B.1 General Project Description The Work to be performed under this Contract varies from BIN to BIN. The West Tremont Avenue Bridge over Metro-North Railroad (BIN 2-24146-0) consists of superstructure replacements in Spans 1 and 5 thru 7 and concrete deck replacement in Spans 2 thru 4. For the substructures, concrete repairs shall be performed at existing Piers 1 thru 4 along with new steel bent foundations on pile supported foundations at Piers 5 and 6. The existing abutment for this BIN will be retrofitted. The West Tremont Avenue Bridge over the Major Deegan Expressway (BIN 1-06693-0) consists of a complete superstructure and substructure replacement. The Bus Turnaround Structure (BIN 5-52452-0) consists of a deck replacement and retaining wall repairs. West Tremont Avenue Bridge carries local traffic to and from the Roberto Clemente State Park, IS 229 School Building; the River Park Towers apartments; and the Morris Height Metro-North Station between Cedar Avenue to the east and Matthewson Road to the west. West Tremont Avenue also spans over MacCracken Avenue at Span 5 under the BIN 2- 24146-0 bridge. All Work for the reconstruction of the West Tremont Avenue bridge shall be done in stages while maintaining traffic as per the OCMC permit stipulations. The new West Tremont Avenue Bridge for BIN 2-24146-0 shall be comprised of new prestressed concrete voided slab units in Span 1 and new steel plate girders in Spans 5 thru 7 on new/rehabilitated substructures. For BIN 1-06693-0, the superstructure shall consist of new steel plate girders in both span on new concrete substructures. A deck replacement and concrete repairs shall be performed on the Bus Turnaround Structure (BIN 5-52452-0 ). For detailed scope of work see Attachment 3i. – Special Provisions.
