Replacement of Westbound Structure: 1. Establish and perform work zone traffic control to shift traffic to eastbound structure. 2. Install temporary erosion and sediment control measures. 3. Install interim steel sheeting as depicted in the contract plans. 4. Remove and dispose of existing superstructure. Existing girders to be removed using hold and release (traffic control) method on Oriskany Blvd. in coordination with local authorities. 5. Remove and dispose of existing substructure: a. Portion of the existing begin and end abutments. b. Portion of the existing pier. 6. Excavate for proposed substructure (begin and end abutments). 7. Drive abutment and wingwall piles. 8. Construct begin and end abutment stem walls and wingwalls. 9. Erect steel girders using hold and release (traffic control) measures on Oriskany Blvd. in coordination with local authorities. 10. Construct bridge deck, backwall, and topside features. 11. Construct begin and end approach slabs and sleeper slabs. 12. Reconstruct begin and end approach pavement. 13. Tie-in proposed with existing work. Cut and Mill portion of existing pavement to complete tie-in. Replacement of Eastbound Structure: 14. Establish and perform workzone traffic control to shift traffic to westbound structure. 15. Repeat steps 2 through 13 for the Eastbound Structure. 16. Using short-duration lane closures, install new pavement markings and signs as shown on the contract plans. Remove workzone traffic control and direct traffic to final eastbound and westbound layouts. 17. Remove temporary erosion control measures after turf establishment.
