• Increase housing capacity to meet the growing student population and demand; • Provide on-campus housing opportunities that similar compare to those of off-campus housing communities (pricing, amenities, convenience), in an effort to promote living on campus; • Enhance the student experience by creating comfortable, modern living environments which support individual well-being, studying needs, and social interactions, while promoting community-building and collaboration; • Design a building which complements the campus’ architecture, blends the unique characteristics of both CIW and Mountain View communities, and positively contributes to the overall campus environment; • Provide modern amenities such as study lounges, quiet areas, community kitchens, and laundry; • Promote accessibility for all students and provide safe living conditions for the residents; • Incorporate green and sustainable building practices, use energy-efficient technologies and building systems, reduce impact on the environment, minimize operational costs, be efficient and easily maintained, and meet the sustainability directives of NYS and Binghamton University; • Provide flexibility within the design to promote future growth as the University’s requirements evolve; and • Maximize the University’s investment by balancing material type/quality, space, functionality, and building needs to a determined budget and timeframe.
