The Carnwath Manor building on-site, built in 1850, remains a boarded-up eyesore languishing in worsening deterioration. A structural walkthrough conducted by a professional engineer in 2022, cited critical concerns including, but not limited to: significant water damage and rot, collapsed wood floors, a partially collapsed foundation wall, and the need for a new permanent roof. The report noted that the building can still be salvaged if remedial action is taken. It is believed that the potential for this storied facility is vast, in tandem with the array of vibrant programs and resources the park provides. As such, the Town is seeking to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study and the development of initial phase one engineering plans for the stabilization and rehabilitation of Carnwath Manor, incorporating public input throughout the process to determine the best course of action for everyone’s benefit.
