The County aims to determine the most effective methods to support the Westchester County’s communities and engage potential partners through a Community Engagement Strategy, focus groups, and resource sharing. The Community Outreach and Engagement Initiative Plan should establish a clear vision and a coordinated approach. The Department of Planning intends to identify strategies that foster ongoing public and private partnerships and develop new collaborations to effectively coordinate efforts and leverage resources in alignment with community organizations. One of the core needs of the plan will be to engage at every level, which will also need to be done in a meaningful way that moves beyond traditional planning means. Services should not be limited to traditional outreach such as surveys, but facilitating a participatory process where community members can comment, suggest, and contribute to the plan, ensuring that the results reflect what truly matters to the people.
