Washington County was awarded a grant (C1002691) through the New York State Department of State (NYSDOS) Smart Growth Countywide Resiliency Program. The countywide resiliency plan will result in implementable future climate resiliency initiatives, recommendations, and or strategies as well as identified vulnerable and important community assets near floodplains. Washington County will develop a Countywide Resiliency Plan in partnership with key partners and the Lake Champlain-Lake George Regional Planning Board (LCLGRPB). The plan will identify vulnerabilities to key assets, risks to health and vulnerable populations, and impacts to economic sectors from climate hazards such as flooding, excessive heat, and extreme weather events. The Plan will result in the identification of resilience goals and strategies to improve the overall resiliency of the County. This project aims to prepare the county for future climate change risks and vulnerabilities to the built and natural environment. This includes the agricultural community which has been particularly impacted by storm events and flooding. LCLGRPB will provide grant administration and project administration for this contract. The selected firm(s) will provide the County and LCLGRPB with all information and materials to complete the required NYSDOS reporting.
