The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the Renovate Social Sciences North for Classrooms and Offices project at the State University of New York at Albany. The Social Sciences Building, constructed in 1966, is a 127,474 GSF, four-story building that houses classrooms and offices associated with the following programs: general psychology, history, ethnic/minority/gender studies, and communications/media studies. Most of the building's mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are original to the building, are in poor condition and beyond the end of their useful lives. Portions of the building's floor plans have been reconfigured since the building's original construction, but some areas remain original architecturally. The mechanical units and ductwork are zoned in such a way that the building can essentially be divided in half and one side renovated while the other half remains open. The Project will renovate the north half of the building including a comprehensive interior renovation of the north half of the Social Sciences Building. The renovation will include architectural finishes, building systems, replacement of the roof and windows and construction of a new elevator within the building. The Project includes the removal of hazardous materials and will provide upgrades to meet current code requirements. The construction value is estimated at approximately $39,156,000.
