1.1. Stairwell No. 1 – Employee Entrance 1.1.1. Removal and Disposal of Existing Handrails and Railings (Approximately 25 LF) 1.1.2. Concrete Surface Preparation 1.1.2.1. Area to be repaired must be clean, sound, and free of contaminants. All loose and deteriorated concrete shall be removed by mechanical means. Mechanically prepare concrete substrate to obtain a surface profile of ± 1/8” (CSP 6 or greater as per ICRI Guidelines) with a new exposed aggregate surface. Area to be patched shall not be less than 1/4” in depth. 1.1.2.2. Where reinforcing steel with active corrosion is encountered, sandblast the steel to a white metal finish to remove all contaminants and rust. Where corrosion has occurred due to the presence of chlorides, the steel shall be high pressure washed after mechanical cleaning. Prime steel with 2 coats of Sika® Armatec® 110 EpoCem as per the Product Data Sheet (PDS) or comparable product. 1.1.3. Application of Professional–grade High-strength Adhesive and Mortar 1.1.3.1. Install ½” to 2/3” Type S mortar mix that achieves compressive strength of over 1,800 psi and high-tensile bond strength. 1.1.4. Furnish and Install the following over the existing and prepared concrete steps per industry standards: 1.1.4.1. 12” x 2” Bluestone treads (8) x 13’-4” each 1.1.4.2. +/- 108 LF of granite cobblestones for risers ( 10” x 7” x 4”) 1.1.4.3. 12” x 2” Bluestone edger on platform +/- 22 LF 1.1.4.4. ¾” bluestone flagstone 3’-6” x 12’-0” SF 1.1.4.5. 1 ½” ID Galvanized 2-line railing w/ posts 8 LF 1.1.4.6. 1 ½” ID galvanized handrail 1-line w/ posts 22 LF 1.1.4.7. Repoint existing brick joints 15 SF 1.1.4.8. Joint grouting and sealing. 1.1.4.9. Edge finishing. 1.1.5. Clean up of work area.
