Heavy Equipment Simulator: The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, Division of Education, is looking to purchase approximately three (3) full-service heavy equipment simulators to begin Heavy Equipment Simulator Programs. In an effort to support incarcerated individuals for successful reentry back into society, the Department’s intent is to train qualified incarcerated individuals on how to operate multiple pieces of relevant earth moving equipment currently used within today’s construction industry. Regarding a heavy equipment simulator, the Department is looking for features that would allow the student the most realistic simulation of heavy equipment operation available on relevant equipment currently used in the field, matched with options that could be tailored to the student’s individual needs. Some of these needs would include the ability for the simulator to provide realistic controls like those within actual equipment, including joysticks, levers, steering wheel/levers, foot controls, operational dash panel, and accessory switches. Included in the simulator will be the ability to either switch out physical equipment or software to provide training on various pieces of heavy equipment including but not limited to excavator, dozer, and track loader. The viewing area needs to be large enough to give the operator a full view of the simulated job site and provide some sort of haptic feedback for a realistic operating experience. Regarding the software program, the Department is looking for students to gain experience in urban, suburban, rural, and highway scenarios that challenge the user to develop skills in multiple applications such as earth moving, trenching, backfilling, lifting, moving, and loading. The following are the specifications the Department is looking for in a heavy equipment simulator at each correctional facility to ensure the student the best opportunity for success: • Provide simulators that meet or exceed the specifications listed below. • Each simulator unit will have the ability to be configured into different types of earth moving equipment. Simulator configurations will include, but not be limited to, excavator, bulldozer, and track loader. • 3-axis motion system that provides pitches, rolls, and vibrations that would be experienced in a real piece of earth moving heavy equipment. • Equipment or software that provides haptic feedback for realistic movement during operation. • Realistic cab configuration including padded seat, functional joysticks, steering wheel/levers, foot controls, and dash panel accessory switches for each selectable machine configuration. • Software package that includes various real-life scenarios, including, but not limited to, operating in urban, suburban, rural, highway, and agricultural type environments. • Software must include a large variety of different training exercises to be performed using each configuration of specific equipment. • Software must offer safety training specific to the equipment itself as well as operation of the equipment. • Software must be updatable offline, without having to be connected to an internet connection and must be able to be updated inside of the correctional facilities. • One (1) instructor workstation with desktop computer. • Equipped with at least three (3) 40” flat screen displays configured to provide a full and realistic field of vision
