Erie County Department of Public Works requires a vendor to witness on behalf of the County of Erie, yearly elevator safety inspections, elevator load tests, and provide elevator maintenance contract closeout evaluations and professional services to evaluate elevator maintenance and contractor compliance with the latest edition of the International Building Code and local laws and in accordance with Table N1 of ASME A17.1 or the equivalent or renumbered or currently adopted standard as required by Article 9 of the County’s Bid Specification for Elevator Maintenance. Inspections are to be performed by a QEI qualified inspector who will file an inspection report document as directed by Erie County to provide certificate of operation. Inspections will follow American Standard Practice for Inspection of Elevators under International Building Code (latest edition) and are to be performed during normal business hours (where practical) with minimum disruption of building routine. Inspection appointments are to be made in advance with each building engineer and coordinated with the applicable elevator maintenance contractor. Inspection reports will note results of tests and list any current violations and associated code numbers for: grandfathered violations, International building code violations, and Local law violations. Reports and recommendations are to be sent to Buildings and Grounds Division, 95 Franklin St. Buffalo, NY 14202 or the appropriate County department or agency using this specification.
