To develop Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) along Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs) in New York State south of Interstate 84 (I-84) encompassing New York City, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley. The Program will make up to $28.5 million in federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program formula funding available for these purposes. This NYSERDA Program is overseen by the New York State Department of Transportation. This Program is intended to increase the availability of DCFC Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) in New York State by reducing the cost of purchasing and installing the equipment. Ultimately the Program will accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption by increasing the State’s EV infrastructure. By increasing the use of EVs and EV chargers, this program benefits New York State citizens by reducing harmful emissions and the transportation sector’s dependence on petroleum. The NEVI Program supports the Federal government’s Justice40 Initiative, its goal that 40 percent of the overall benefits of certain Federal climate, clean energy, affordable and sustainable housing, and other investments flow to disadvantaged communities that are marginalized by underinvestment and overburdened by pollution.
