The purpose of this specification is to furnish district hot water piping for underground service and appurtenances to the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities (BPU), Jamestown, New York. The buried piping system shall employ an internal steel carrier pipe insulated with rigid polyurethane foam and encased in a strong, impact-resistant outer high-density polyethylene casing. The system is designed to function as a bonded system, except in the elbows. The bidder can offer extra foam in the elbows or external foam pads to absorb the thermal movement of the pipe. This specification covers procurement of buried piping and appurtenances only. Piping system designs that allow backfilling of the trench before filling and heating of the system are required. The complexity of installation of the piping system bid and the associated construction cost will be considered and evaluated when selecting the successful bidder. The system to be installed will be calculated by the BPU and is not available at this time. All bidders will be evaluated on a per-piece basis.
