Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. A 13,000 sf Acrylic / Polyurethane playing surface striped for 2 tennis/pickleball courts. a. Inclusive of all nets/posts, court dividers, benches, fencing/backdrops, signage 2. A 7,500 sf (minimum area) skate park capable of accommodating multiple users at once. The design of skatepark should be uniquely sleepy hollow in appearance and fit into the overall park through visual appearance and landscaping. The following list of components are recommended to be incorporated into the skate park design as budget allows: a. The skate park facility should be usable for all levels from beginners to advanced levels; specifically 60/40 to 70/30 favoring street skating vs. transition skating. b. The skate park shall be designed and constructed to accommodate use by skateboarders, inline skaters, scooters and potentially freestyle BMX bikes. c. The skate park shall have a balance of popular transition skateboarding elements such as ramps, spines, bowl, quarter pipe, and half pipes, etc. d. The skate park shall have street skating elements such as grind rails, stairs, streetscape, gaps, ledges, pyramids, rails, and a skate-able sculpture, etc. e. The depths of bowls shall not exceed eight (8) feet. f. All 90° and/or grinding surfaces shall contain metal facing. g. The width of the concrete apron surrounding the skate park shall not be less than six (6) feet and shall be surrounded by an outer two (2) foot barrier of recycled rubber mulch, Pour N’ Play, or comparable, sustainable material. (The LDC is seeking a recommended product from the proposer.) h. The interior design of the skate park shall exclude any type of natural vegetation (e.g., trees, grass, shrubs, etc.). i. The design of the skatepark should incorporate a signature element, and provide proper space and flow between elements. j. Team to collaborate with artists on skate-able sculpture and artwork 3. A community promenade between the Clinton Street extension roadway and future multipurpose field extending between the skatepark/court area and intersections of Continental and Clinton Street extensions. a. Promenade measures approximately 600’ by an average width of 25’ b. Tree-lined with ample options for seating/viewing recreational fields, bike racks, trash receptacles, etc. c. Well defined ADA accessible pathway consisting of materials that integrate the roadway extensions and future DPW facility into the park landscape (natural stone/pavers/textured concrete). d. Design should incorporate green infrastructure and flood resilient features/materials where possible. e. Design should include one or more areas dedicated to gathering and socializing, such as a place to sit and congregate like steps. f. Design should incorporate lighting for pedestrians utilizing poles/fixtures in the same style as the street lighting installed throughout the east parcel. 4. A pavilion, or similar structure, shall provide resting/observation and shaded seating for the general public, and shall be located directly adjacent to the skate park, courts, or promenade. The pavilion is a civic amenity and should be open to the elements and able to withstand harsh climate and accessible during winter and summer months. It should be made from local materials and provide for drainage appropriate for this local climate and match the park aesthetics. The flooring should consist of a concrete slab or similar. a. The pavilion shall be no less than 20’ x 30’. b. The pavilion shall provide for standard 120V appliances, devices, and shall also provide USBA and USB-C connectivity for mobile device charging. c. The pavilion shall include a water fountain/bottle filler. 5. Walking paths connecting the skate park, courts, and pavilion areas to the recently completed Clinton Street extension roadway sidewalks. 6. Landscape/hardscape features to fill out the buffer spaces between the skate park, courts, pavilion, and pathways. This includes wayfinding signage and defined entrances for both the skate park, courts and pavilion.
