• Design Review Leadership: Participate in public ARB design review discussions with ARB members the goal of preserving and enhancing community character. This includes evaluating the appropriateness of proposed materials, massing, scale, and architectural details, as well as assessing additions, alterations, and exterior changes to existing structures. • Material and Technology Guidance: Advise and guide ARB members on the acceptance and application of new building technologies, construction methods, and exterior materials, ensuring compatibility with the Village’s architectural context and design standards. • Historic and Residential Architecture: Lead discussions concerning the language of residential architecture and the appropriateness of additions or alterations to historic structures, balancing preservation objectives with functional and contemporary needs. • Preservation Guidelines Familiarity: Apply a working knowledge of National Park Service (NPS) guidelines and best practices related to the preservation, rehabilitation, and alteration of historic structures when advising the ARB.
