Special Inspections replaced “Controlled Inspections” for all construction projects filed on or after July 1, 2008. Special Inspections may only be performed by Special Inspectors employed by a DOB-approved Special Inspection Agency. The New York City Building Code (“NYC Building Code”) and the RCNY require that certain materials, operations and equipment be inspected or tested to verify compliance with code requirements under the provisions of Special Inspections. All required inspections and tests of such materials, equipment and operations will be made by a Special Inspections Agency retained by the Corporation. The Corporation is seeking to enter into contracts with one or more qualified Consultants capable of providing on-call Special Inspections and related services on an as-needed basis. Each Consultant shall perform Special Inspection services as specified in and in accordance with individual Project Assignments issued under this contract for specific projects throughout New York City, as directed by the Corporation during the Contract Term (the “Services”).
