This agreement will provide for Construction Inspection Services to supplement Department staff, as determined by the State’s Term Agreement Manager, to adequately address the needs of various construction projects. Inspection work may include, but is not limited to: 1. Highway reconstruction projects including earthwork; drainage; joint repair; crack sealing; asphalt and concrete paving, pavement markings; intersection improvements; sidewalks; retaining walls; roadway lighting; traffic signal systems; intelligent transportation systems (ITS) equipment installation; sign and sign structure replacement; noise barrier, guide railing, median barrier, and fencing; graffiti removal; landscaping; or other routine construction contracts. 2. Bridge replacement or rehabilitation projects including substructure and superstructure repairs or replacement, joints, bearings, sidewalks, railing, fencing, overhead lighting, signs, and scuppers; bridge cleaning; stone repointing; asbestos removal; and occasional bridge emergency work. 3. Bridge painting, including monitoring of Class A containment systems, for total removal of the existing lead paint system. 4. Administrative functions to ensure contract documentation in compliance with MURK guidelines. Assignments may vary in duration and the number of inspectors per construction contract. Some inspectors may be required to work at night or on weekends. Scope of Services Construction Inspection Services to be performed by the Consultant are to ensure that the work of the Contractor conforms to the provisions of the contract documents and all safety requirements. Services to be performed include detailed inspection, on-site field testing of materials & other construction activities as necessary, including field measurement & collection of data necessary to submit monthly & final estimates and progress reports, and preparation of record plans showing all changes from the contract plans. All records shall be kept in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK) including Site Manager and EBO. In addition, if included in staffing, the Resident Engineer may be required to maintain the Engineer's Daily Project Diary describing the progress of the work, specific problems encountered, and other pertinent information relative to the execution of the contract work. The Consultant will be proactive toward achievement of timely construction completion and monitor contract progress by evaluating the adequacy of the Contractor's personnel and equipment including the availability of necessary materials and supplies.
