This agreement will provide construction inspection services to support a capital project to resurface the asphalt riding surface at the following locations: 1. I495 (Long Island Expressway) from Exit 40 (NY25) to Nassau/Suffolk County Line in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County. 2. I495 (Long Island Expressway) North Service Road from Round Swamp Road to 1250 feet east in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County. 3. I495 (Long Island Expressway) Eastbound truck inspection area west of Exit 48 (Round Swamp Road) in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County The work limits are 7.2 center line miles (84.03 lane miles). When completed, the resurfaced pavement is expected to increase safety and provide a smooth riding surface for vehicular travel for the next 10 to 12 years. Proposed work in this “1R” project will include milling 2” of the existing asphalt riding surface and replacing it with new asphalt. All shoulders and ramps within the project limits are included, as well as any curb ramps which are deemed noncompliant. Also included are some isolated full depth asphalt and/or composite pavement repairs as well as new pavement markings. ITS elements such as traffic signal loops and traffic count loops within contract limits will be replaced where necessary. Drainage and utility works are also included in project scope. Inspectors may be required to work nights and/or weekends.
