Specifications include, but are not limited to: The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Alzheimer’s Disease Program (ADP) announces the opportunity for one not-for-profit organization with a statewide presence to act as the statewide resource on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD) promoting statewide support services, providing disease education and advocacy on issues related to ADRD and increasing awareness. An annual award of $232,000 will be provided contingent upon the availability of state funds and approval of the Office of the State Comptroller. The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Alzheimer’s Disease Program (ADP), located within the Bureau of Community Integration and Alzheimer’s Disease (BCIAD), is part of the Center for Aging and Long-Term Care Finances and Supports, Office of Aging and Long-Term Care. The ADP is responsible for implementing initiatives to support people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD) and their caregivers. The initiatives are based on evidence that demonstrates that providing an array of caregiver support services in the community helps to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency room visits, delays nursing home placement, and improves caregiver burden and mental health outcomes.
