Application Alkyd thermoplastic markings are fusible to both asphalt and Portland cement concrete with the use of preheating with or without use of preheating of the pavement surface, primer use is optional. The pavement markings must be stable for four (4) hours at material application temperatures of 400° to 425°F. The surface must be clean, dry, and at a temperature of 50°F and rising to insure a successful bond with the substrate. Concrete and asphalt surfaces more than two years old require the use of a sealer/primer. Characteristics These thermoplastic markings must conform to standards required by the AASHTO and specifications as issued by the U.S Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and a variety of states.
