Specifications include, but are not limited to: NYCERS is seeking to protect from data destruction due to catastrophic failure at the NYCERS data centers in New York City by contracting a data center services vendor to house a storage device and network communication equipment at a distant facility. NYCERS plans to transmit data backups through a secure VPN connection over the Internet from the NYCERS data centers in New York City to the storage device at the distant facility. B. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 1. Must be a “hardened data center” with 24x7 continuous operations and functionality (staffed and managed) minimum 99.7% availability (less than 30 minute outage per week) procedures for handling incidents and service disruptions including notification, escalation and resolution N+N redundant power (battery backup and generator power) N+N redundant environmental controls for temperature and humidity fire suppression continuous monitoring for the presence of fire, smoke and moisture continuous monitoring of electrical power, temperature and humidity within range 2. Must have strong physical site security including rigorous access control procedures 24 hour monitoring for intrusion 24 hour camera surveillance of the premises and the surrounding area guards stationed at all gates and entry points restricting access to NYCERS assets only to authorized personnel recording of all access to the facility and to restricted areas within the facility
