SCOPE OF SERVICES – SIDEWALKS AND CURBS Removal of 910 sq. ft. of existing concrete sidewalk (approximately 4.5 ft. x 190 ft.) and removal of 210 LF. of concrete curb. The area of sidewalk includes the landing at the bottom of the stairs; the ramp is not included and will not be replaced. The stair railings are existing to remain. Furnish and install all concrete pavements and all incidental work required to complete 910 sq. ft. of sidewalk and 210 LF. of curb. The curb shall be 20” total height, 7” reveal with an expansion joint between the curb and sidewalk. If the asphalt is damaged during the demolition of the existing curb, it must be repaired back to existing condition. Concrete, transit mix conforming to ASTM C-94, min 3500psi. Expansion joint sealer shall be synthetic rubber caulking for masonry walks. Color to be concrete gray. Set forms to the required grades and lines, rigidly braced and secured with wood or metal stakes. Install sufficient lengths of forms to allow continuous progress of the work, and so that forms can remain in place at least 24 hours after concrete placement. All form work shall be adequate to produce clean straight lines. New concrete shall meet existing concrete with matching toll joints and edging. Install wire mesh 6”x6” in all concrete forms at mid-height of slab. Overlap joints 6 inches. After completion of floating and when excess moisture or surface sheen has disappeared, complete surface finishing. Broom Finish by drawing a fine bristle broom across the concrete surface. Contractor shall return to the job site for the removal of all forms. All debris shall be removed from the property by the contractor on a daily basis. 4. SCOPE OF SERVICES – RETAINING WALLS Remove and replace 185 LF. of retaining wall. Existing wall is block, to be removed by the contractor and turned over to the Town for disposal. Stamped concrete design on the outward facing surface of the wall shall be utilized for the sides of the walls in view via form liners or hand stamps. The backside of the walls where landscaping will be do not need to be stamped with a design. The below grade portions of the wall do not need to be stamped with a design. The top surface of the wall shall have a smooth finish to accept cap stones (material and installation by the Town). The outward facing surfaces, top of the wall and the backside surfaces one foot down from the top shall be dyed via a water-based stain or a concrete color hardener followed by a matte finish seal coat. Color to be selected by the Town before the start of construction from the manufacturer’s full selection of colors including grays, browns and tans. Stamp pattern shall also be selected by owner before the start of construction. See the attachments to this RFP for reference examples of pattern and color options. Top elevation of all (3) walls shall be the same upon completion.
