a) All vehicle and pedestrian areas must be clear by 6:00 A.M. High School, 6:30 A.M. Elementary School and Middle School when school is in session. Timing of maintenance after 7:00 A.M. clearing shall be coordinated to insure easy access of buses at opening and closing of school. b) When school is not in session, and during the balance of the school day, snow plowing will be timely and appropriate to prevent excessive build-up or icing –over said areas. c) The Contractor will plow snow from all parking areas and drives. The District will handle most walkways and sidewalks itself, but may ask the contractor to assist during times of large snowfall. d) Drives and walkways will be sanded as needed, or as deemed necessary by the district’s representatives working in the respective buildings. e) Snow plowing and sanding will be performed at such frequencies as to maintain parking areas and walkways in a safe and passable condition for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Sand/Salt mixture (where percent (%) of sand is the first figure and salt is the second figure) shall be a minimum of 75/25. There will be no substitutions allowed for sand. f) Snow plowing will be completed in such a manner as to minimize the loss of parking areas and walkways. 2 Bid No.: 25-SNOW Bid Title: Snow Removal Bid Submittal Deadline: August 14, 2025 at 11:00 am g) When requested by East Hampton Union Free School District, the Contractor will be required to remove accumulated snow from preceding storms from adjacent areas to allow for effective snow plowing. h) The contractor agrees to be available and accessible for emergency or follow-up maintenance at the discretion of the Director of Facilities, Head of Grounds or Building Principal. i) Before the snow season starts an inspection shall be conducted with the Facilities Manager to review the above areas. j) At the end of each snow season the Contractor will remove all accumulated sand and debris from the above areas. k) Contractor will bear full responsibility for damage to East Hampton Union Free School District property resulting from Contractor’s negligence; i.e. damage to fencing caused by plowing snow into it, broken and/or disturbed curbing, etc. At no additional cost to the school district, the Contractor will, to the satisfaction of the district, repair any damage incurred due to plowing. l) The Contractor is required to have accessible at all times the following: adequate equipment, manpower, and supplies to timely and efficiently accomplish the above services. Failure to do so will constitute a violation of the Contractor’s obligation under this contract and may result in contract non-payment of invoices or contract cancellation. m) The Contractor shall take and provide copies of pre-season photos to include the conditions of the pavements, curbs and fencing. n) All work should be done in a workmanlike manner.
