Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Snow and Slush Removal Services 1. It is extremely important during inclement weather that all efforts are made to have the site accessible and safe for individuals and staff. To have accessibility, Snow and Slush Removal must automatically commence at the accumulation of 3 inches at the contracted site. It is the Contractor’s sole responsibility to ensure they are aware of when the site has accumulated 3 inches of snow. The Plant Superintendent or designee has the right to call for service as deemed necessary for safety concerns. Services will be provided 7 days per week and 24 hours per day. 2. For any major snow event, OPWDD may request Snow and Slush Removal as needed. The Contractor must begin plowing snow no later than two (2) hours of the request. 3. The Contractor will use equipment large enough to clear the parking areas and to push snowbanks back when needed to maintain visibility. 4. Snow will not be pushed or stored against building walls, fences, vehicles, exit doors, trees/shrubbery, and garage doors. Snow must not block any means of egress such as stairs, ramps, fire escapes, and exits. Snow accumulation around fire hydrants, standpipe connections, utility service equipment, or dumpsters must be cleared. Additionally, snow piles will not exceed three feet in height around any intersection or turn. 5. The Contractor is required to remove snow on all walkways, steps, generator access areas, dumpster areas, fire hydrants, fire exits, fuel delivery paths, mailboxes, and approaches to mailboxes. An area no less than 36 inches wide must be cleared for all walkways and paths to accommodate wheelchairs. B. Ice Control Services 1. Contractor must be able to provide ice control services on a 24 hour per day, seven days per week basis. This includes sleet and freezing rain occurrences as well as during snowfall events. OPWDD may request Ice Control Services as needed. The Contractor must begin Ice Control Services no later than two (2) hours of the request. 2. Ice control for sidewalks, walkways, roadways, and parking areas will be accomplished by the application of the Contractor supplied de-icer such as sodium chloride (Salt), Calcium Chloride, or an FLDDSOO approved equivalent product. De-Icer will be applied at rates and densities in line with industry standards and sufficient to maintain all affected areas, so ice buildup is minimized to avoid potentially slippery conditions. 3. De-icer application must immediately follow every plowing to bare surface. 4. At pavement temperatures below the effective rate of the de-icer, the Contractor must use an abrasive material, such as sand, to enhance traction. The effective rate for Sodium Chloride (Salt) is 15F degrees. The effective rate for Calcium Chloride is -20F degrees
