Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Contractor must be able to provide snow and slush removal services seven (7) days per week, 24 hours a day for the Taconic DDSOO Wassaic Campus. Snow and slush shall be removed by plowing, shoveling, or blowing as necessary. All snow and slush must be removed in a manner that allows safe passage and does not promote the buildup of ice, slush and/or snow. Plows cannot be used to clear egress routes to buildings. Snowblowers and/or shovels can be used to clear egress routes to buildings. 2. The Contractor must meet with Plant Superintendent or designee prior to the start of each snow and slush removal season to discuss specific site requirements. Areas that require snow and slush removal services include but are not limited to: Roadways, driveways, parking areas, egress routes, fire hydrants, and dumpsters, as further detailed in Exhibit A: Campus Details with Map. 3. The Contractor will need equipment large enough to clear the parking areas and to push snowbanks back when needed to maintain visibility. 4. Priority roadways, driveways, parking areas, parking exits, and egresses are to remain open at full width and visibility throughout the contract period. Priority areas are to be cleared to bare pavement, brim to brim first. Secondary roadways, driveways, parking areas, parking exits, and egresses are to be cleared to bare pavement and remain open at a width wide enough to accommodate emergency vehicles, after priority areas are cleared. 5. Some roadways may be across non-paved areas to allow for emergency egress from the site. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to know where these areas are. 6. Contractor will employ the use of “plow shoes” on gravel or unpaved areas. 7. Snow shall be removed to a storage area designated by the Plant Superintendent or designee. Banking of snow shall be limited in height so as not to restrict visibility at entrances to roadways. Snow shall not be pushed against vehicles, buildings, entranceways, exit doors, fire hydrants, trash receptacles, dumpsters, garage doors, shrubbery, or trees. Care must be taken to not push, shovel, or throw snow on or otherwise damage adjoining properties. Snow must not be piled up or blown in front of neighboring property or public streets. Snow shall not be placed where it blocks public walks. 8. It is not the responsibility of the Contractor to shovel the paths to smoking areas.
