RFB-6484 - Excavating Services

Summary of Specifications:
The purpose of this specification is to furnish the Onondaga County Department of Transportation with equipment and operators necessary to perform excavations per OSHA regulations, install drainage pipes, grade, backfill and compact culvert trenches, highway widenings, shoulder reconstructions, roadside drainage projects or slope stabilizations which require the use of sheeting or trench boxes due to depth considerations. The installation of medium or heavy stone fill may be necessary as part of the projects assigned. The installation of County provided Catch Basin Sumps may be required as part of the assigned project. The County will require the contractor to perform the excavation using sheeting or trench box alternates as opposed to slope lay back alternates as specified in 29 CFR Part 1926 Occupational Safety and Health Standards – Excavations: Final Rule.
