Genesee County, located in western New York, is a rural community with a population of approximately 60,000 people. The County Seat is located in the City of Batavia, centrally located in the County. In addition, there are thirteen (13) towns and seven (7) villages. Fire protection is primarily volunteer, with the exception of the paid City of Batavia Fire Department. Recently the County reestablished a Task Force with the goal of implementing changes to the way the Fire Service in Genesee County does business. The original Task Force was established back in 2000. Numerous studies have been completed in the past identifying the “issues”, but limited changes were actually made. This RFP is for the development of a Comprehensive Fire Service Implementation Plan to assess and address these "issues," creating short-term and long-term plans for implementation.
