PROPOSED SOLE SOURCE AWARD TO SHARE OF NEW SQUARE FOR FOOD LIFELINE PROGRAM - $162,513.00 The County of Rockland is considering the issuance of a Sole Source award to SHARE of New Square for the provision of a Food Lifeline Program comprised of Kosher Home Delivered Meals. This award may be made on a sole source basis in accordance with the Rockland County Procurement Policy. The contract fills a need for: • Providing low-income families in the communities of Spring Valley, Monsey, New Square, Suffern, New Hempstead and Pomona with temporary emergency Kosher meals during personal crisis situations such as illness, recuperation, emotional turmoil, or financial difficulties. Families and individuals are eligible to receive meals for a period of 2 weeks after which time extensions may be available on a limited basis depending on the family’s circumstances. • Assisting low income families and individuals to put food on their tables. Nearly 40% of the meals served go to children under the age of 18. • Provision of nutritious, hot dinners and lunch for the next day delivered free of charge to the sick and homebound, to the elderly, and to households that are unable to provide meals for their families for reasons of illness, recuperation, emotional turmoil, or financial difficulties. Dinners are provided 6 days per week. • Approximately 1,000 families served annually.
