Summary of Specifications:
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) has the authority to approve, administer, and coordinate childcare services for the children of DMH clients. New York State Department of Social Services (NYSDSS) sets forth procedures and requirements to be followed and complied with for establishing affordable, high quality childcare services. The service provider shall have primary responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the center. The service provider must comply will all current state and local standards for the licensure and operation of child care facilities, maintain adequate liability insurance coverage, and assume financial and legal responsibility for the operation of the program.
Our current Learning Center is a unique program for TANF and Child Welfare mothers of infants, toddles and their children participating in Next Steps, Welfare to Work Program. It provides a high quality early childhood program on-site as well as a parent education program for both mothers and fathers. Additional provider requirements include: • Must be a Not-for-Profit agency operating a licensed child care center program in the Spring Valley area. • Must have Early Childhood Accreditation; • Must provide infant / toddle care; • Must provide on-site child care; • Must have demonstrated proficiency working with children, parents and provider agencies involved in TANF, substance abuse treatment and child welfare; • Staffing must be culturally representative of the participant population; • Must operate Head start and alternate child care programs in Spring Valley to offer transitional child care for parents who live or secure employment in the Spring Valley area.
Interested firms should send a letter of interest and qualifications of similar services by June 12, 2006. References for at least two similar child care centers should also be included with contact names, address, telephone and other contact information.
