Summary of Specifications:
The purpose of this federally funded program is to continue the Poughkeepsie-Dutchess County Transportation Council traffic count monitoring program started in 1998 on non-state federal aid roads in Dutchess County. The counts taken must conform with standards set forth by New York State in E1 01-001 (Traffic Monitoring Standards). The PDCTC, in conjunction with various municipalities, Dutchess County Department of Public Works, and NYSDOT, has a traffic count program to count non-state federal aid roads in Dutchess County. These counts are used in modeling, the Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) process, and Long Range Planning. The project entails directional traffic counts and geographically referencing all locations using Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
