Summary of Specifications:
The City of Yonkers is seeking bids from qualified vendors to furnish and deliver Manhole Heads, Covers, Grates and Frames for a 12-month period with an option to renew for additional 6-months to the Yonkers Sewer Department and Water Treatment Plant.
All castings shall be made of clean, tough, gray cast iron, free from cracks, blowholes or any defects, which will impair the casting. Castings shall not be repaired, welded or plugged. Gray Iron shall meet ASTM Standards A48-83, Class 30B and Ductile Iron shall meet ASTM A536. All castings must meet or exceed H-20 and HS-20 traffic loadings. All non-grated manhole covers shall have cast on the top surface – COY SEWER or COY WATER as per specification.
Bidder shall submit, with their bid, proof that their castings conform to these standards. Dimensions given in the specification sketches shall hold true as far as is compatible with the best and accepted foundry practices.
