Summary of Specifications:
Broome County is seeking proposals for Naming Rights to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena (the Arena). A suggested minimum annual payment of $50,000 over a ten-year period will be used as a baseline for this proposal. The facility began operations on August 29, 1973. The Arena is owned by Broome County and is managed by it’s County Parks & Recreation Department. The Arena has an adaptable seating capacity between 4,600 (for ice hockey) and 7,000 (for concerts). The Arena is home to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League (AHL) who won the Calder Cup (league championship) in 2013. The Senators play approximately 40 exhibition and regular-season games at the Arena. The AHL playoffs offer the potential for up to another 12 home games, depending on how far the team would advance in the post season. The Arena hosts a variety of other events, including concerts, family shows, commencements and sporting events. Notable events include Disney Live, Disney on Ice, The Harlem Globetrotters, WWE Wrestling, Sesame Street Live, Broome County Ethnic Festival, Broome Business Show, Shrine Circus, and The STOP DWI Holiday Basketball Tournament. On average, the Arena is used over 200 days per year (including ice rentals) approximately 250,000 people will attend events at the facility. A major capital improvement program is currently in process that will transform the Arena into a state-of-the-art venue. Improvements will include new seating, LED lighting, dasher board & glass system, concession facilities, marquee signage, and stairs. These improvements represent a $2.5 million dollar investment into the facility and are scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2013.
