1. Transform University Stadium into a “Stadium of the Future” • Determine the best course of action for renovating and modernizing University Stadium with a focus on fan experience, premium amenities, revenue generation, upgraded concessions, restrooms, and all essential game-day infrastructure. • Incorporate modern technology, accessibility, and sustainability features that align with peer benchmarking and today’s best practices in stadium design. • Design the stadium to support year-round, multipurpose use — including concerts, community gatherings, high school championships, and statewide events that deliver significant economic and community impact. • Provide realistic construction estimates and clear phasing options for University Stadium improvements to guide informed discussions with donors, state officials, and university leadership. High-quality renderings should also support these conversations to build excitement and trust. 2. Deliver a Comprehensive Athletics Facilities Assessment and Development Strategy • Take a thorough, data-driven look at all existing athletics facilities to benchmark against peers, assess strengths, identify deficiencies, and map out clear opportunities for growth and modernization. • Prioritize the student-athlete experience, with an emphasis on safety, wellness, development, and competitive excellence. 3. Strengthen Campus & Community Integration • Use Athletics-driven development as a catalyst for mixed-use growth within the South Campus TIDD, enhancing the campus edge, generating economic activity, and deepening connections between UNM and Albuquerque. • Prioritize improvements to parking, multimodal access, and connectivity across South Campus to create a safe, welcoming, and convenient experience for students, fans, and the broader community. 4. Inspire Stakeholder Confidence & Support • Develop clear, compelling renderings and visuals of proposed projects to communicate the vision effectively with donors, government partners, and campus leadership. • Create a flexible plan that allows for phased implementation and early wins to build momentum, trust, and broad-based support for priority projects. 5. Focus on Revenue Generation & Long-Term Sustainability • Identify and maximize revenue-generating opportunities within University Stadium and the South Campus TIDD, including expanded premium seating, club spaces, suites, upgraded concessions, hospitality areas, and multipurpose event programming — balancing these enhancements with the core needs of Lobo Athletics and an exceptional fan experience. • Leverage University Stadium and The Pit together as anchor venues for mixed-use development within the South Campus TIDD, exploring partnerships that bring retail, dining, entertainment, and other complementary uses that enhance game-day energy and drive year-round economic activity. • Ensure that all revenue strategies are realistic, sustainable, and aligned with UNM’s broader goals — providing clear pathways for long-term growth, donor investment, and meaningful benefit to the campus, community, and state. 6. Honor UNM’s Mission & Statewide Role • Align all recommendations with UNM 2040 and the Integrated Campus Plan to ensure athletics facilities advance broader institutional and community goals. • Create facilities that reflect New Mexico’s pride, tradition, and community spirit — building spaces that inspire Lobos and serve the entire state.
