1. General Requirements • Objective: To repair and patch asphalt roadways, ensuring proper compaction of the subgrade to enhance durability and longevity. • Standards: All work shall comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including the latest standards for asphalt paving and subgrade compaction. • Timeframe: All work shall be complete by May 15, 2025 • Bids: Contractor shall bid per square yard. 2. Site Preparation • Clearing and Grubbing: Remove any debris, vegetation, or obstructions from the work area. • Marking: Locations will be marked to be patched. 3. Subgrade Preparation • Excavation: Excavate the damaged asphalt and subgrade, up to 4” and patch with asphalt. Asphalt to be provided by the Village of Ruidoso. • Compaction: Compact the subgrade using appropriate equipment (e.g., vibratory rollers, pneumatic rollers) to achieve the required density. 4. Asphalt Patching • Material: Use hot mix asphalt (HMA) that meets the specified mix design for the project. • Application: Apply a tack coat to the prepared subgrade before placing the asphalt. • Patching: Place and compact the asphalt in layers, ensuring each layer is properly compacted before adding the next. • Finishing: Smooth and level the patched area to match the surrounding pavement. 5. Quality Assurance • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including any test results, inspection reports load tickets and amount of material. 6. Cleanup and Restoration • Site Cleanup: Remove all construction debris and equipment from the site. • Restoration: Restore any disturbed areas, including landscaping and signage, to their original condition. 7. Safety and Environmental Considerations • Safety: Ensure all workers follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). • Traffic Control: Implement traffic control measures to ensure the safety of workers and the public. • Environmental Protection: Implement measures to minimize environmental impact, such as dust control and proper disposal of waste materials.
