The 2021 Santa Fe Community College Master Plan finds that current enrollment trends show there is little to no need for additional square footage of facilities for the college. Rather, as the buildings on the main campus age, and usage changes, there is an opportunity to redevelop within the existing footprint of the buildings and meet the expectations of a 21st century higher education provider. The purpose of the Student Hub is to create a cohesive process for student needs – from registering and payments, financial aid, seeking financial or health related advice, to spontaneous interactions. This newly envisioned space shall align with and be informed by SFCC’s Strategic Plan, its mission, vision, and values. It shall acknowledge the overall character, structure, and physical form of the campus and transform the student experience, acknowledging the realities of the campus environment, fiscal constraints, and a broad campus constituency. The selected Design Team shall perform the Scope of Work in conjunction with the campus “Student Hub Advisory Committee” (which will include representatives of academic and administrative areas, faculty, and students) to assess current utilization and future space and organizational needs, campus access, and the overall aesthetic sense of campus. The Project generally consists of the following elements: • Consolidating Student Services • Renovating the 100s, 200s and 300s of the West Wing Building (approximately 150,000 gsf) • Creating a new Entry Pavilion • Providing a Wayfinding System and new signage for the campus
