Specifications include, but are not limited to: Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) and over-the phone interpreters (OPI) are held to a high standard for experience, qualifications, certifications, and specialty areas of knowledge. These interpreters are carefully vetted to ensure the interpreters meet these standards. VRI/OPI policies and procedures control the recruitment, on-boarding, training, continuing education, and quality assurance programs. Our standards assert that interpreters have competency in the profession of interpretation and are skilled subject-matter experts before Voyce engages them. They must be fully trained with proficiency in interpreting prior to consideration. Our interpreters hold an average of over 4 years of interpreting experience prior to joining our team, and 90% of them are native speakers of the target language. The minimum requirement is 2 years of confirmed experience and 40 hours of training. Interpreter Certifications We prioritize working with professional interpreters who hold nationally recognized interpreting certifications through organizations that include: • Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) • National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) • Department of Human Services (DHS) • Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts’ court interpreter certification program/examination • US Healthcare - CCHI Certification • NIC (National Interpreter Certification) by RID
